We, are human beings. And whether we like it or not, we are afraid. We live in a world full of fear
(It’s full of other things too, but I’m talking about fear.). We may not be so afraid that we’re paranoid. But we are scared. We are frightened.
Yes, I’m speaking the truth. We may like to think that we’re not afraid. But we are. Everyone is afraid of something.
“Okay, so you’ve made your point, but why are you talking about this in the first place?” you may be asking. Well, because I, we, have a problem. Many times we let fear control us. And we can’t allow that. Because there’s a chance that we will never accomplish anything meaningful in our lives if we let fear control us. We can’t make decisions based on fear. How will we get anything done? How will our lives change? They won’t. They’ll stay exactly the same.
All you who fear the Lord, trust the Lord!
He is your helper and your shield.
How do we fix this problem? We trust in God. But that doesn’t mean that all our fears will disappear. That is most assuredly not true. In some cases, we may always be afraid of whatever that something is.
No matter how afraid we are, we can’t let it control us. It will ruin our lives.
Trusting in God isn’t the end of it. We have to face our fears. Sometimes we have to step out of our comfort zones.
It doesn’t matter that you’re afraid. You’ll always be afraid of something, while in this world. You just have to face your fear. That’s what be brave and courageous is: doing something even if you’re afraid.
And if it means facing your fear over and over, but it never go away, then that’s just what you’ll have to do.
Wait patiently for the Lord.
Be brave and courageous.
Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.
So your fear doesn’t matter. What matters is how you react to that fear. Do you let it control you? Do you let it make your decisions for you? Or do you face it? Do you stand up to it?
Are you brave?
That’s at the heart of it, is it not? Are you brave? Are you standing up in spite of your fears?
I think that’s a question we all need to be asking. Or it might be more important to ask, are you willing to be brave? To really have a shot at being brave, we’re going to need to trust in God. If we have our foundation in Him, our assurance in Him, what’s stopping us?
But when I am afraid, I will put my trust in you.
Well, trusting in God will only give us the ability to be brave, He doesn’t always take away our fear (it’s a part of our fallen human nature), but He does give us His strength. Strength that will help us face our fear.
